PUI’s mission is to provide emergency relief and support to displaced people, restoring their dignity and self-sufficiency. The Nigerian mission began in April 2016, focusing on urgent needs such as access to food, primary health care, and nutrition for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities (HCs) in Maiduguri.

Job Overview

The Grants & Communication Intern will support the Grants Officer with communication-related tasks, emphasizing both internal visibility and meeting donor communication requirements. This role involves content creation, communication monitoring, and supporting ongoing PUI projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in reviewing success stories and testimonials showcasing PUI’s impact.
  • Design graphic content for various communication platforms.
  • Manage and update content on social media channels.
  • Monitor communication topics within the department.
  • Collaborate with field offices and coordination teams on communication efforts.
  • Respond to communications on platforms under the Grant Officer’s guidance.
  • Post information, upload, and archive multimedia content as directed.
  • Support the creation of communication tools and animation of social networks.
  • Assist in developing a quarterly newsletter and the annual activity report.
  • Attend field visits and meetings to gather content ideas.
  • Collect communication inputs from field teams to support deliverables.
  • Ensure smooth information flow between field and coordination teams.
Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Language: Fluency in English and Hausa is required; knowledge of Kanuri is an advantage.
  • Education: First Degree in Communication, Digital Marketing, or a related field.
  • Work Experience: Experience in teamwork; international and association experience preferred.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficient in communication tools and social media platforms (Facebook).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Canva.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proactive and energetic in fast-paced environments.
  • Basic knowledge of web content management, SEO, and website best practices.
  • Familiarity with graphic design, video editing, and photography.

Assets:

  • Interest in humanitarian work.
  • Familiarity with PUI’s programming in Nigeria is an advantage.
